The Results

The times taken here are from the design of one of the least computationally intensive fractals that I generated, Mandelbrot Set 7.5. We get a noticable speedup for each additional processor we add, but 2 processors are the most efficient.

The times taken here are from the design of the most computationally intensive fractal that I generated, Mandelbrot Set 8. Again, we see noticable speedup and greatest efficiency with 2 processors, but in this case the additional fourth processor seems to slightly reduce our speedup.

The results illustrate that increasing the number of processors increases speedup, that is up until we get around 4 processors. The fourth processor didn't turn out to be very helpful, but this could be because it may have been handling network operations while I was using the machine. There were also other users on camelot while I ran my tests, so they could have played a part in slowing down my fourth processor.

Overall I couldn't ask for better results. Speedup values were good and efficiency peaked around 80%. The more computational set # 8 was, as expected, a better indicator of speedup and efficiency values.
